I have never seen their gender as being a stumbling block to their
success in anything they have attempted and I have certainly never been of
the mind that they are starting one step behind the men of their own. I have
watched as the women of my generation have fought and struggled for their
rightful place in this world in all arenas. I have condemned those who have
stood in their way and I will continue to do so till the day I die.
So, why, if it is so easy for people to accept the fact that women
can be just as capable as a man in all things, it is just as equally
difficult for people, the courts and so many women, to accept that a man is
equally as capable when it comes to raising a child. I have seen nothing in
the early training of my own daughters, or that of the daughters of any of my
peers, that was specifically directed at enabling them to one day become
mothers with all the inherent and learned skills necessary to do a good job
at that most difficult of all tasks.
