TECHNIQUE TWO:  Talk Things over with a
 Good Receptive Listener ..........

A receptive listener is not someone who’ll attempt to make up your mind for you by giving advice, but rather a person who’ll let you air your ideas and feelings until you can come to your own conclusion about what the best action is. You may need a little more information, or it may simply be that you need to articulate the problem, and the solution will come to you. A receptive listener gives you time to think out loud. Telling someone what is bothering you does a lot to discharge negative emotion that you might otherwise hang on to. It is better to let it go. Express, don’t depress!

Single parents must develop a strong support group where they can be there for each other when help is needed. Everyone needs to vent at times. When you are a good listener for others, they are more likely to be there when you need help.
